Bradford City 3 Morecambe 1
City recorded a fourth successive home win against Morecambe on Tuesday evening to move into 5th position in League 2, thanks to three well taken goals from James Hanson, Kyel Reid and Gary Jones respectively.
The visitors almost stunned the home crowd in the 1st minute, when a low cross flashed across the area, with Kevin Ellison and Richard Brodie almost getting on the end of it in precarious positions.
Alan Connell had City's first chance when he beat the offside trap to close in on goal, his low shot though was brilliantly tipped wide by Barry Roche.
Richard Brodie tested the sharpness of McLaughlin with a goal bound header from a deep Andy Parrish cross, but the City stopper held the ball well to deny the former York City man.
On the stroke of half time, James Hanson struck brilliantly to grab his second goal in four days and hand his side a deserved lead. Kyel Reid's cross evaded a few bodies in the area before falling to Hanson, who turned excellently to fire neatly past Barry Roche.
Into the second half and Nathan Doyle was the next to sternly test Roche when his venomous 25 yard drive was pushed wide by the Morecambe goalkeeper.
On the 57th minute Morecambe should've equalised when former Bantam Robbie Threlfall was found in space in the area; his low shot was stopped well by Jon McLaughlin.
City thought they had the game won in the 80th minute when Kyel Reid doubled the lead; a searching angled pass from Doyle was expertly brought down and tucked away fluidly by Reid.
Substitute Jack Redshaw responded a couple of minutes later though, when he slotted home past McLaughlin after being found in too much space.
McLaughlin produced another excellent point blank save late on, this time to deny Jordan Burrow after Kevin Ellison had teed him up in the area.
Kyel Reid's lung busting run from his own half led to a freekick after Jack Redshaw had brought him down; Gary Jones duly stepped up to curl home from around 20 yards to seal the win for The Bantams.
