PROGRESS FOR KILGALLON AND GILLIEAD

21 April 2017

Bantams boss Stuart McCall has revealed that injured duo Matthew Kilgallon and Alex Gilliead have both made significant recent progress on their road to recovery - but he says it still too early to pencil them in a definite return date just yet.

After injured his shoulder back in January, Kilgallon was able to join in with training with the rest of his City team-mates for the first time on Thursday.

Alex Gilliead, who damaged his hamstring last month, managed to take part in certain sections of training with McCall's men ahead of Saturday's final home game of the league season with AFC Wimbledon.

McCall feels the duo aren't quite in a position to return to action at the moment, but he is still encouraged to see the pair take a big step in the right direction.

Speaking ahead of the AFC Wimbledon match, the City chief said: "We have no new injuries from the Easter weekend. We have also been boosted by the fact that Matthew Kilgallon has managed to do a full session with us today (Thursday).

"Gilly (Alex Gilliead) could have possibly done the whole session as well but he completed the warm up and the passing drills, and then Shorty (Chris Short, Fitness Coach) took him for some crossing work.

"He has come through that, which is obviously good news.

"Both are champing at the bit to be back up and running fully. The aim at the moment is to have them both back in full training regularly by next week.

"This isn't with an eye on a particular game, it is just good to see them back on the training pitch.

"We will then see how they are doing and how they are feeling."
