City secure Reach loan

23 January 2014

The Bantams have completed a deal to bring left winger Adam Reach to the football club on loan from Championship side Middlesbrough.

Reach, who turns 21 early next month, has joined City initially until 22 February 2014 with a view to extending the loan later into the season.

After penning his deal with the Bantams, Reach will train with his new City team-mates for the first time this Thursday.

The highly-rated winger spent the first part of the season on loan at fellow Sky Bet League 1 side Shrewsbury Town and actually played against the Bantams at the Coral Windows Stadium back in late September.

Reach made 24 appearances for the Shrews during his time at the Greenhous Meadow, scoring three goals at same time.

Despite his relatively young age, Reach has already featured 24 times for Middlesbrough, 18 of which have come in the Championship, before his loan period at Shrewsbury.

Reach scored on his Middlesbrough debut aged just 18 after coming on as a second half substitute during their 3-0 home win over Doncaster Rovers.

The Gateshead-born player has also earned caps at Under 19 and Under 20 level for England. Reach represented England in the FIFA Under 20 World Cup last summer, featuring in every one of their group games.

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson said: "Adam will bring some extra pace and athleticism to the squad. He did well while on loan at Shrewsbury earlier this season and we are delighted to bring him here to the football club."
