YFA backing the Bantams!

21 February 2013

Yorkshire Film Archive is backing the Bantams in their bid for success in the 2013 Capital One Cup!

As the lads prepare to take on Swansea City at Wembley this Sunday 24th February, you too can show your support by sending a limited edition videocard of Bradford City's 1911 FA Cup victory against Newcastle – the last time the Bantams won a major cup competition.

This rare footage shows the replay at Old Trafford on 26th April 1911, following the first match at Crystal Palace on 22nd April, which ended in a goalless draw.  Bradford won 1-0 in front of a 58,000-strong crowd, with the winning goal scored by Jimmy Spiers. Many more supporters congregated outside the ground, and some intrepid fans even climbed the overlooking trees to try and catch a glimpse of their heroes!

.www.yorkshirefilmarchive.comThe 1911 FA Cup final was an historic one, as it featured a new cup - coincidentally manufactured in Bradford by Messrs Fattorini & Sons!  The replay was also only the second final not to be played at Crystal Palace since 1895.  Once you've sent your videocard, why not find out more about the match - and see more footage - by visiting

Can Bradford City do it again in 2013?  We'll be cheering them on all the way!
