Ces Podd
Cyril 'Ces' Podd was one of the first black players to establish himself
over a long period in League football and was also one of the most charismatic players in Bradford City's history.
His playing career at Valley Parade spanned 14 years and he made a club record of 502 League appearances.
Born on the Leeward island of St. Kitts, he moved to live in Leeds with his parents when he was nine-years old. He developed through local football and signed for Bradford City as an amateur while studying at Bradford Regional College of Art.
In August 1970 City signed him on full-time professional forms with his record-breaking 444th League appearance coming against Doncaster Rovers in October 1982 when he passed Ian Cooper's eight-year old record and he was a City regular right up until his transfer to Halifax Town in August 1987.
He moved on to Scarborough and was a member of the side who earned promotion to the Football League in 1987.
Ces is now Manager of the St. Kitts and Nevis national side.
