Lee Crooks has insisted he has buried the hatchet with Bradford City boss Colin Todd.
Crooks quit Valley Parade in mid-season after being sent off in the LDV Trophy loss at Kidderminster Harriers.
His red card after just six minutes sparked a bust-up between player and manager and the midfielder immediately joined Notts County on loan.
But Crooks said the pair had made up when he returned to the club at the end of the campaign to officially sign off his contract.
"Colin and I didn't see eye to eye with my sending off in the Kidderminster game and it was best we just parted ways," he said.
"But we had a little chat when I came back to the club and I wished him all the best.
"Things are fine between us and I hope he can have a really good season with Bradford."
Crooks is in the market for a new club after snubbing the offer of a two-year deal with County.
He was expected to sign but changed his mind following the departure of manager Gudjon Thordarson.
Crooks said: "I've known Gudjon a long time and only went there because of him. Once he went, there was no way I was going to stay.
"Gudjon wanted to rebuild the club but the people above him are getting rid of the youth team and academy.
"They've also got rid of some of the staff and he felt there was no way he could take the club forward without those people around him.
"It's such a shame because it's a good set-up there with a great stadium and facilities. But it's in such a mess and I didn't want any part of it."
Thordarson is hoping to land another league job quickly and has promised to take Crooks with him.
Crooks said: "I've got a few irons in the fire so I'm sure something will crop up soon. It's still early and hopefully I'll find a club in League One or Two.
"I had mixed emotions about last season because it was a strange one for me. I thought I played some of my best football at Bradford early on and was really enjoying it."
